Nearly 5,000 people die each year from traffic accidents in Germany alone and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) technology, known collectively as V2X, has the potential to reduce that number. The U.S. Department of Transportation says that 82 percent of incidents could be mitigated by V2V or V2X.

South American vehicle sales are forecast to reach 4.5 million units by 2014, with Brazil accounting for 60% of the total. According to ANFAVEA, Brazil’s National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, new car sales in Argentina and Colombia were up by 50% and 25% respectively over unit sales in 2006, and new car sales tripled in Peru from 2006 to 2010.
