South American vehicle sales are forecast to reach 4.5 million units by 2014, with Brazil accounting for 60% of the total. According to ANFAVEA, Brazil’s National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, new car sales in Argentina and Colombia were up by 50% and 25% respectively over unit sales in 2006, and new car sales tripled in Peru from 2006 to 2010.
News, entertainment, sports and talk radio content aggregator Stitcher Smart Radio has launched Stitcher Connect, described as talk radio’s first API developed for the car. The Stitcher Connect platform integrates the features of on-demand radio directly into the automobile and launches in Chevrolet’s Sonic and Spark models. Listeners can seamlessly access and discover over 10,000 shows on Stitcher in their car.
Announcing infotainment and connected vehicle advance at the New York International Auto Show, Nissan Motor Company chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn said the company is “determined to introduce class-leading connected content and services to drivers and passengers around the world in a way that does not distract the driver.”
Coulomb Technologies said Google, Inc. has deployed more than 70 electric vehicle charging stations managed by the ChargePoint® Network at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA. The charging stations are used by employee-owned electric vehicles, as well as the company’s growing car sharing program for Googlers (GFleet), which includes Chevrolet Volts and Nissan LEAFs.
