dSPACE MicroAutoBox computes larger models faster

The dSPACE MicroAutoBox, a real-time system for fast function ECU prototyping, can now compute larger models faster thanks to a new processor (IBM PPC 759GL) with 1MB of Level2 cache – double that of the previous version. The new system also has 16MB of SRAM versus 8MB, so it can calculate the control model 1.6 to 2.5 times faster than before, depending on the specific application, model size, and model structure. MicroAutoBox rapid control prototyping applications include vehicle dynamics, powertrains, body control, and x-by-wire.
The upgraded MicroAutoBox allows larger models to be loaded from dSPACE Release 6.4 onward. Existing models can continue in use unmodified, and existing executables can be loaded and executed directly.
MATLAB®/Simulink®/Stateflow® modeling tools are seamlessly integrated into the dSPACE prototyping environment. With dSPACE’s software Real-Time Interface (RTI), the connection between dSPACE hardware and the modeling tool, developers can implement Simulink® models on the MicroAutoBox automatically without needing programming skills.
