Intersil’s 12-Cell Li-ion Battery Pack Monitor Safeguards Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Battery Systems
Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL) announced the ISL78610 12-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack monitor. The device provides cell balancing and accurate voltage and temperature monitoring to safeguard Li-ion battery packs in hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and electric vehicles.
System designers can use the ISL78610 as a standalone battery-pack monitor or as a redundant back-up device when combined with the high accuracy ISL78600 multi-cell battery manager. This powerful combination enables automobile manufacturers to achieve the higher ISO 26262 automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) D rating.
- Ricardo-led ADEPT programme aims to demonstrate technology capable of providing near full-hybrid equivalent fuel economy at significantly lower cost
- ADEPT consortium successfully applies advanced mild hybrid technologies with 48V ‘intelligent electrification’ to a Ford Focus project demonstrator
- Results of almost three years of intensive development and road and laboratory testing of ADEPT technology will be revealed at LCV2016
Following almost three years of intensive testing, development and validation of advanced mild hybrid technologies with 48V ‘intelligent electrification’ applied to a Ford Focus project demonstrator, the ADEPT (advanced diesel-electric powertrain) consortium partners have announced that the project is on course to meet the stringent air quality and ultra-low emission requirements expected of near term next generation vehicles.
In addition to the current operations, Automotive Lighting – Magneti Marelli’s business line devoted to the automotive lighting sector – is integrating in Juárez production site in Mexico, a new assembly operation for LED modules.
This further enlargement of production of advanced lighting technologies is aimed at satisfying high technology applications and customer needs in a market like NAFTA, in which the LED technology penetration for front lighting is expected to grow from approximately 20% in 2016 to approximately 50% in 2020 (source: IHS – AL).
Juárez LED operation will start with the involvement of 115 employee (165 by 2016), and grow to nearly 400 people by the end of 2017.
MEMSIC Inc., (http://www.memsic.com) announced a new family of acceleration and tip-over sensor components that includes four new sensors, the MXD6240 and 41AU, MXC6244AU, MXC6245XU. The new sensors provide tip-over and acceleration sensing in a wide range of automotive and other applications.
“For years, high vibration environments have caused problems for accelerometers, forcing customers to widen the full scale range of the accelerometer to prevent clipping and move to a more powerful and expensive microprocessor capable of higher sampling rates and heavy filtering needed prevent aliasing and recover the signal of interest,” said James Fennelly, MEMSIC Product Marketing Manager. “The 624x family gives customers a new cost effective choice that works well in these high-vibration environments, and is the only accelerometer with these unique vibration-filtering properties.”
Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris:#13065, DSY.PA),announced the launch of the “Vehicle Program Intelligence” industry solution experience providing transportation and mobility companies with powerful analytics applications. Based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, “Vehicle Program Intelligence” reveals, measures and analyzes product and manufacturing data to accelerate and enhance business decisions in project, change and quality management.
