Vishay Intertechnology Releases Industry’s First AEC-Q101-Qualified 12 V and 20 V MOSFETs in a Dual Asymmetric Package for Synchronous Buck Applications

To save space and power in high-efficiency synchronous buck converters for automotive applications, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today introduced the industry’s first AEC-Q101-qualified 12 V and 20 V MOSFETs in a dual asymmetric power package. The Vishay Siliconix SQJ202EP and SQJ200EP n-channel TrenchFET® devices each combine a high- and low-side MOSFET in the compact 5 mm by 6 mm PowerPAK® SO-8L dual asymmetric package, with low-side maximum on-resistance down to 3.3 mΩ.

Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL) announced the ISL78610 12-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack monitor. The device provides cell balancing and accurate voltage and temperature monitoring to safeguard Li-ion battery packs in hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and electric vehicles.
System designers can use the ISL78610 as a standalone battery-pack monitor or as a redundant back-up device when combined with the high accuracy ISL78600 multi-cell battery manager. This powerful combination enables automobile manufacturers to achieve the higher ISO 26262 automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) D rating.

This device provides a user friendly solution for highly compact ring magnet applications utilizing PCB mounting. This sensor is ideal for applications such as automotive transmissions and industrial equipment.
This sensor IC incorporates a dual element Hall IC that switches in response to differential magnetic signals created by a ring magnet. The IC contains a sophisticated compensating circuit designed to eliminate the detrimental effects of magnet and system offsets. Digital processing of the analog signal provides zero-speed performance independent of air gap and also dynamic adaptation of device performance to the typical operating conditions found in automotive applications (reduced vibration sensitivity). High-resolution peak detecting DACs are used to set the adaptive switching thresholds of the device. Hysteresis in the thresholds reduces the negative effects of any anomalies in the magnetic signal associated with the targets used in many automotive applications. The open-drain output is configured for three-wire applications.
In addition to the 8-pin SOIC surface mount package (suffix L), the A1667 is also available in a 4-pin SIP through-hole package (suffix K). Both packages are lead (Pb) free with 100% matte-tin-plated leadframes.
The A1667 (8-pin SOIC) is priced at $0.941 in quantities of 1,000.
In addition to the current operations, Automotive Lighting – Magneti Marelli’s business line devoted to the automotive lighting sector – is integrating in Juárez production site in Mexico, a new assembly operation for LED modules.
This further enlargement of production of advanced lighting technologies is aimed at satisfying high technology applications and customer needs in a market like NAFTA, in which the LED technology penetration for front lighting is expected to grow from approximately 20% in 2016 to approximately 50% in 2020 (source: IHS – AL).
Juárez LED operation will start with the involvement of 115 employee (165 by 2016), and grow to nearly 400 people by the end of 2017.

Vishay Intertechnology IHLP® Inductor in 5050 Case Size Delivers High-Temperature Operation to +180 °C
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced a new Automotive Grade IHLP® low-profile, high-current inductor in the 5050 case size featuring a +180 °C continuous operating temperature rating for under-the-hood applications. Offering a low 6.4 mm profile, the Vishay Dale IHLP-5050FD-8A provides a wide range of inductance values from 0.22 µH to 22 µH.
With a frequency range up to 2 MHz for energy storage inductors in DC/DC converters and up to the inductor’s SRF for filter applications, the device released today exceeds AEC-Q200 requirements to provide a high-performing, space- and power-saving solution for DC/DC converters and high-current noise filters in high-temperature automotive systems. Applications include engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, HID and LED lighting, heating and ventilation blowers, and other applications in which high-temperature operation is required.
