Audi has awarded Vector Informatik and its strategic partner, TTTech Automotive, an international supply contract for AUTOSAR Basic Software (BSW). The call for bids covered modules for communication over CAN, LIN and FlexRay, including RTE and end-to-end protection for safety-related ECUs.
In a statement TTTech Automotive suggested that choosing one supplier for the Basic Software of all ECUs benefits both Audi developers and ECU manufacturers by reducing integration and testing effort and shortening development times.
The BSW modules comply with AUTOSAR specification 3.1 and are adapted to VW Group requirements in the Diagnostics area. Modules for end-to-end protection (E2E) by TTTech Automotive are integrated seamlessly in function and configuration, thus making the solution usable for safety-related applications according to ISO 26262 ASIL-D. Other factors in Audi’s decision were the configuration of communication parameters, and Vector’s worldwide service capability.
ECU manufacturers can supplement the core functionality of the BSW by adding other Vector modules, such as operating system, system and memory services, communication over Ethernet and MOST, Flash Bootloader, and MCALs for various hardware platforms. The modules provide a uniform solution for the complete AUTOSAR BSW, which can also be used for other automotive OEMs.
The consistent configuration concept for the entire stack simplifies the work of software developers at the ECU manufacturer and improves the quality of the whole ECU software.
